Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

For American postdoctoral scholars wishing to lecture and/or conduct advanced research in Sweden

Applications for this program are administered through the Institute of International Education (IIE) with a deadline of September 16, 2024. Please see the Catalogue of Awards for grants available for U.S. citizens to Sweden, terminology defining qualification levels and other important details regarding each grant category. Awards listed for Sweden include the Fulbright Scholar program (research and/or teaching), the Distinguished Scholar positions in Lund and Uppsala, and the NSF Nordic Security award, which combines research in Iceland and Sweden.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens at the time of the application. Preference is given to applicants who have not resided or studied in Sweden for more than six months in the past three years.

Letter of affiliation: all researchers from the U.S. are required to have an affiliation in Sweden. While affiliations should be academic, they may include museums, cultural organizations, think tanks, etc. Please contact the Commission directly in case of uncertainty.
